Don't believe false claims or implications by Softonic that you can download the Freeware Version of OpenOffice9. You HAVE to pay then to get it!

The free download site, that they indicate you can get it from either is NOT allowed to give out free copies of the freeware, or they WILL NOT.

What you get when you think you will get freeware is something quite different, namely the (temporary) free TRIAL version of EasyOffice9 PREMIUM with a download file named simply
"easyoffice.exe". (You can NOT tell by the download name that it is not the "Freeware" you requested, and you may not discover the deception until after a 20 min. installation (that includes expanding and re-copying files).

Save time, don't waste 1 hour or more (as I did) trying to down load
the FREE download of EasyOffice Freeware. Or You, also. will only waste your time, ... (unless you actually want the premium $49 to $59 version).

They let you think you are downloading the freeware version
but after a 30 minute download, (or much longer if you use "a dial up" connection) and after 25 more minutes of expanding and copying files to complete the installation process you will then discover that you have installed the wrong version. Upon opening the program you are informed by with "nag" "pop up" messages that you have so many days left until you must PURCHASE or register(=pay for) this free trial ver. of EasyOffice, PREMIUM!

Apparently Softonic does not want, or inadvertently, does NOT allow you, to get a free copy of the so this "freeware" anywhere!. If you try you will very likely complete the installation of the commercial version ($49 -$59) free trial version before you realize that you have installed a program did not intend to!

This is because, the discrepancy is NOT detectable before or during the download, unless you have been forewarned and know the size of the download you want and compare it with the size of the download that is about to start.

HOW to tell the DIFFERENCE between the "Freeware Version" and the PREMIUM:

At the site you are taken to (only a number for the site is given) for the free download, (SUPPOSEDLY for the"Freeware" version), the name of the program is given as just "easyoffice.exe"; (Which does NOT indicate whether or not it is the Freeware or Premium version you have applied to download .)

BUT the download file size the of Freeware is advertised as being 93.04 megabits. (Since I have never succeeded in downloading it I can not verify this.)

And the download size of the free TRIAL PREMIUM ver. is 99.9 MB!
(That this is the size of the TRIAL Premium version I can guarantee, as I have downloaded it three times by mistake!)

And when you think you are getting the Freeware version, at the beginning of the download process, the file length is clearly shown as 99.9 MB (!!).
This is your proof (and the only way to tell) that you are about to be
deceived into downloading (and probably installing) the commercial
"PREMIUM" ($49-$59) version instead of the Freeware the site is
SUPPOSEDLY provides.

Highly annoyed with Softonic, as well with myself for being fooled into wasting so much time, I took the advice of one of the customers who rated EasyOffice negatively and adviced the use of OpenOffice.org.

I am now the happy, and satisfied user of OpenOffice.org version Beta 3, as well as volunteer Beta tester.
I recommned the investigation and use of OpenOffice.org 2 and the new Beta Verson 3.

Openoffice is a community supported, ethical, organization. Openoffice.org will never charge a download fee and all programs in th OpenOffice.org suite of business programs are free.

OpenOffice.org welcomes donations of funds and especially of donated time. You do not have to be a programer to particapte usefully. Beta testers are welcomed.

Post Scrip:
A search on the Internet may yield a 3rd party site that lets you download an old version 1 of Easyoffice, without charge.
